4 Conocí a Félix a través de la arquitecta catalana Elisenda Tortajada, quien viajó a Lisboa en la década de los ochenta. Él, de algún modo inescrutable, había visto la planta de una obra mía, un parque de bomberos en Vila Velha de Ródão, publicada en el catálogo de la “Biennale de Paris. Architecture 1985”. Nunca me ha explicado cómo aquel catálogo llegó a sus manos, pero acaso el azar, esa divinidad discreta, haya urdido el camino. Según me dijo, aquella planta poseía ciertos rasgos parecidos a un proyecto que habían realizado: un polideportivo concebido para la nueva villa olímpica de la Barcelona de 1992. Elisenda me entregó una carta de Félix en la que me invitaba a participar en un workshop en la ETSAB. Se celebraría unos meses después y contó con emergentes arquitectos europeos, entre ellos Jacques Herzog y Eleni Gigantes. Aquel taller me permitió compartir días intensos con jóvenes estudiantes que, con el tiempo, encontrarían su propio camino: Cristina Gastón, Alfonso Garrido. De esa semana nació una amistad que dura hasta el día de hoy. I met Félix through the Catalan architect Elisenda Tortajada, who traveled to Lisbon in the eighties. As he told me, that floor plan had certain features similar to a project they had done: a sports center designed for the new Olympic village for the 1992 Barcelona Games. Elisenda gave me a letter from Félix inviting me to take part in a workshop at the ETSAB. It would be held a few months later and featured up-and-coming European architects, including Jacques Herzog and Eleni Gigantes. That workshop allowed me to share intense days with young students who would, over time, find their own path: Cristina Gastón, Alfonso Garrido.
