TC 168- TdB Arquitectos.

Therein lies, too, the tendency to reuse all possible pre-existing elements and to take great care with the doses of modernity, in stairs, elevators, technical services, installations, enclosures, basements, skylights, patios and roofs. In the Burés house, the typological order of collective corner housing is reinforced, strengthening the strips of the corridors, the voids in the patios and the monumentality of the stairs, and emphasizing the singular episodes of the modernist rooms, with all their decorative elements. and furniture: stained glass windows, reliefs, sculptures, cabinetry, fireplaces, mosaics... The building itself provides the guidelines for the intervention, and they have been able to interpret it. New spaces have been introduced for common areas, in the basement and on the roof, and the model of housing between dividing walls on the corner of Barcelona’s Ensanche has been thoroughly and rigorously recreated; again this school and city spirit, this paradigmatic character. In the Palau Moxó, on the other hand, as it is a Baroque building, with diverse medieval pre-existences and different transformations over time, the intervention has been more difficult. In a more compact building, with more fragmented and labyrinthine spaces, full of palimpsests, on an irregular plot, without the survival of many decorative and furniture elements, the strategy has been to systematize as much as possible, creating new terraces and relationship spaces, and establishing a new stair system. LIVE Housing has been, from the beginning, the central theme of Juan Trias de Bes research team, project and construction searches. It constitutes the basis of his research, teaching and publications. And following the logic of his architectural position, housing is about developing its most scientific part, calculating and monitoring energy savings, with the aim of achieving a comfortable, sustainable and healthy home. Although he does not cite them in his research and publications, the ergonomic searches of Christine Frederick and Lillian Gilbreth find their continuity in the current search for efficient housing in all senses. What is often explicit is the influence of John Habraken’s theory and practice of “brackets”. In short, in living, the TdB Architects team tries to combine rationalism and technological precision with the poetic and symbolic values of domestic space, as deepened by Gaston Bachelard in "The Poetics of Space" (1957), of the intensity of each material and the symbolic and perceptive values of each of the elements of the house.2 TO WORK TdB Architects has had the opportunity to carry out works for companies, for workplaces, seeking the highest spatial quality and corporate representativeness based on form, efficiency, flexibility, transparency and the promotion of relationships. In buildings that are generally located in peri-urban landscapes, industrial and corporate areas surrounded by highways and configured based on isolated and autonomous volumes.
