CHAPTER VI Years later, a young architecture student made the trip. It may have been 1978. While the Scandinavians sought the sunshine of the south, the southern countries dreamed of the freedoms of the north and the idyllic landscapes full of water, a scarce commodity in Spain. Too many coincidences. And the Pompeian courtyard was central to Munkegårds. When it was demolished at the end of the 1990s, Poul Erick Skriver wrote something wonderful in the daily Politiken on the subject: “... we have forgotten our memory, our characteristic look. And it had to be someone from southern Europe, from Spain, who reminded us of how valuable we have it...”. Dorte Mandrup extended the building, and the school was saved. And Jacobsen was a reference for the new generations, because in the DNA of Nordic architecture, design, aesthetics, statics, structure and construction are intimately linked. The responsibility and authorship of all these aspects are, in Spain, solely those of the architect. That is why the results of these new generations are the same but different: they are similar.
